After graduation from the Seminary and prior to Ordination, men who are candidates for Deacon Ordination are required to spend time under the supervios of a Mentor Priest. Mentor Priest is a priest who is considered successful as a holy person and as a pastor. Firas Diab's Mentor Priest was the then Abouna Elias Chachour. So, Firas lived for several months in Ibillin. Additionally, he often stayed for several days in Ibillin.

Biography His Excellency Sayedna / Sayidna / Archbishop Dr. Elias Chacour was born to a Palestinian Christian family in the village of Biram in Upper Galilee in 1939. In 1965, Abouna Elias Chacour was appointed as priest of the Church of St. Joseph, in Ibillin.
