Candle Project - Items available for a Donation at St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church

The goal of the Candle Project is to employ several women with part-time work to hand-make natural, organic, traditional Palestinian candles to be used during religious services in a Church.

One type of natural, organic, handmade candle is produced. Wax and perfume are mixed. A 26 cm. rope is dipped 25 cm. into the wax/perfume mixure.
The materials are local, natural, and organic.
No chemicals are added. No cooking / heating over a fire is done.

Abouna Firas Khoury Diab learned how to make the candles used during religious services in the Orthrodox Church. Abouna Firas trained the women of the parish in this craft.

Usually, these Candles are only available locally. In special circumstances, Abouna Firas Khoury Diab will consider exporting these Candles. One negative in exporting these Candles is the high cost of transportation.

The exported Candles are only available by donation. The exported Candles are not for sale. No exported Candles have been sold. Further, there are no plans to sell exported Candles. One reason is the high cost of transportation would make the cost of the exported Candles so high that a cost conscious person would buy from other vendor.

Please consider a donation for these candles.
Donation Instructions

Two women were employed part-time in the Candle Project. Unfortunately, these candles did not find a market. Now, this project is on hold until a market is found.
