Volunteers at St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church |
---|
Volunteers are greatly appreciated. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
Volunteers stay and eat at either of two places. The first place is a rented home, which is a five (5) minute walk from St. George Church and is owned by parish members. The second place is the College of Naim Khader for Agriculture in Zababdeh, which is a five (5) minute drive from St. George Church. For both places, the daily room and board (food) cost is about US $50 per person. Then, the room and board (food) for seven days would be about US $350. Volunteers are expected to pay for their travel expenses to and from Zababdeh and their living expenses while in Zababdeh. In May - June 2012, a group of volunteers contributed for seven days. This group improved Saint Prophet Elijah (Mar Elias) Community Park (MECP). Additionally, they helped in the Olive Oil Project,Olive Oil Soap Project, Olive Wood Project, and Sewing Project. They contributed money, time, and effort. In July - August 2011, a group of volunteers contributed for six days. This group did construction work on the Saint Prophet Elijah (Mar Elias) Community Park (MECP). They started to build the wall on the North side of the Church's property. They contributed money, construction materials, time, and effort. This group included three Catholic priests. These priests were the first priest volunteers. They were wonderful! In 2009 and 2010, several groups of volunteers contributed for several days to two weeks. These groups did construction work on the Saint Ann (Al-Qiddissah Hannah) Kindergarten / Senior Citizen Center building, planted trees and flowers, cleaned the church and the school grounds, and helped in the Projects. They contributed money, construction materials, plants, time, and effort. In Nov. 2008, the first volunteer group came for one week. They did construction work on the Saint Ann (Al-Qiddissah Hannah) Kindergarten / Senior Citizen Center building.
